Become a volunteer

ESPAÑOL

Do community service with Mexicanos Unidos. Donate your time and talents. Our community needs you.

We need volunteers for one-time or several times a year. We work in the 5 boroughs of NYC.

A volunteer is someone who works for free for a community primarily because they choose to do so. The word comes from Latin, and can be translated as "will" (as in doing something out of ones own free will). Many serve through a non-profit organization – sometimes referred to as formal volunteering, but a significant number also serve less formally, either individually or as part of a group.By definition, a volunteer worker does not get paid or receive compensation for services rendered.

Every 5 December is International Volunteer Day. Check out different volunteer activities around the world.

Volunteering is a great way of getting experience in your field or in a field in which you are interested in. Through volunteering you will meet and work with a wide range of people who may be able to offer advice and assistance in your job search. It is also a way for you to develop skills that may help you get a job. Volunteer experience shows an employer that you have initiative, motivation and a community spirit.

Before you volunteer it is a good idea to decide the skills you want to develop. The most valued skills by employers include: Communication and interpersonal skills, Teamwork, Leadership, Problem solving and analysis, Enthusiasm, Motivation, Organization and Initiative.

Mexicanos Unidos offer you a great volunteer opportunity. Today's volunteers are active, dynamic, creative individuals who possess the skills, desire, patience, and time to accomplish a wide variety of tasks.

We have a variety of activities throught the year. You can volunteer one-time or several times a year.
